Since 1824, when the first balloons were invented, people have found every excuse to party. So in 1980, we figured we’d better open stores and ensure that every man, woman and child had a place to go for balloons and all their celebration needs. And that’s what we did. Our first company goal was simple. To become the best darn party store in the Western United States. We were a small, regional company with solid new store growth, with locations primarily in California and Colorado. However, it soon became apparent that our party FUN was needed throughout the country.

In August 2003, we had an opportunity to purchase the Minneapolis based Paper Warehouse, and add 100 stores to our Party family. This expanded our party influence throughout Minnesota, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tucson, Arizona and we gained Franchise locations in other states as well.

But there was still so much partying to be done, that we couldn’t stop there, so in October 2004, we purchased the Wisconsin based Party Concepts. This added over 130 more locations to our company. The acquisition also provided us with stores in factory outlet malls throughout the United States. These stores operate under the names Paper Factory and Paper Outlet stores. This acquisition allowed us to continue to spread FUN beyond our typical store locations, which are generally located in high-traffic power centers. You know, the ones with Target, Michael’s, Toys R Us, Home Depot, well you get the idea.

We had our biggest party October of 2006! We joined the Party City family! Party City opened its first one-stop party supply store in 1986 in East Hanover, New Jersey. Today, Party City is the world's largest party supply retailer, with over 500 stores. Together, we are over 700 stores located all over the United States and Puerto Rico! Our Everyday category makes up about 80% of the store and includes all the standard items for just about any type of party or celebration you can think of, themes like first birthdays, baby showers, weddings, luaus, and so much more.

Our Seasonal category of items is constantly changing in our store locations as we move in and out of each season, beginning with everything you’ll need for your New Year’s bash through Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Passover, Cinco de Mayo, Graduation, 4th of July, Labor Day Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah.
